LGBTQ+ Affirming Therapy
LGBTQ+ Therapy in Los Angeles & California
Navigating your identity as an LGBTQ+ person can become more complicated when the people closest to you do not fully understand or accept parts of who you are. You may love your family and still feel like you cannot completely be yourself around them. Sometimes it can feel difficult to talk about your relationships, how you identify, or what you are going through because you are unsure how they will respond—or because past conversations have left you feeling misunderstood, judged, or unsupported. You may also find yourself trying to protect your family's feelings while putting your own needs aside.
Therapy can be a space to explore these experiences without having to defend or explain who you are. I offer Spanish-speaking and bilingual therapy for clients who may feel more comfortable talking about these experiences in Spanish, as well as online therapy throughout California for LGBTQ+ clients who may not have access to affirming support nearby.
Therapy That Honors Your Full Story
LGBTQ+ people come to therapy for many of the same reasons anyone else does such as anxiety, relationships, family conflict, trauma, or simply trying to understand themselves better. But identity can also shape how we experience those challenges and whether we feel understood when we ask for help. In my practice, I work with teens and young adults, including people who have experienced foster care or adoption, as well as clients looking for Spanish-speaking therapy. I also provide online therapy throughout California, so LGBTQ+ clients can access affirming therapy even if they are not located near my Los Angeles office.
I provide therapy for LGBTQ+ individuals who need extra support. Navigating family expectations, culture, rejection, trauma, relationships, school, work, religion, immigration, or systems that were not built with you in mind can deeply affect your mental health.
I provide LGBTQ+ affirming therapy for teens and adults who want a space to better understand themselves, their emotions, their relationships, and the experiences that shaped them.
Common Reasons LGBTQ+ Clients Seek Therapy
Online LGBTQ+ Therapy Across California
I offer online LGBTQ+ affirming therapy throughout California, making it easier to access support from a private and familiar space. Virtual therapy can be especially helpful if you live in an area where affirming care is limited or difficult to access.
Whether you are in Los Angeles, San Diego, the Bay Area, Sacramento, the Central Valley, or another part of California, online therapy can provide a consistent space to explore identity, relationships, trauma, and emotional well-being.
Finding a therapist who feels like the right fit is not always easy, and being LGBTQ+ can sometimes make that search even more difficult. You may want a therapist who understands that not every problem you bring to therapy is about your sexual orientation or gender identity, while also recognizing that these parts of who you are can affect your relationships, family experiences, sense of belonging, and how you move through the world.
Online therapy also gives you the ability to look beyond the therapists available in your immediate area. This can be especially important for LGBTQ+ people living in smaller communities or places where there are fewer affirming providers. Instead of limiting your search to who happens to practice nearby, you can focus more on finding someone whose experience, approach, and personality feel right for you.
